It is thought that the name “April” is derived from the Latin word “aperire,” which means “to open,” which could refer to the opening of buds and blooms as spring arrives, and even to opening day of the baseball season. So at OPC, we asking you “to open” the April newsletter and get into spring with the music of the D&A Duo page 5 , Savvy Seniors “Bursting into Spring,” gardening tips page 8, Terrific Tuesday Michigan unique road trips and even Spring Bingo page 9. "Get Crafty for Earth Day" on April 22, by making a unique item made from recycled stuff, or needle felt a trio of “Mischievous Bunnies” page 11. “Get Ready for Golf” with stretches and exercise to help get you ready to play all spring and summer page 16. We have something for everyone at OPC!
If you are already a member, we hope you will try something new. If you are not a member, what are you waiting for! Residents 50+ in Rochester, Rochester Hills and Oakland Township just need to come in to register and pay a one time $6.00 fee. We also welcome those 50+ outside our three communities. The cashiers window is open Monday - Friday from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm., for class registration, punch cards and new memberships. Use My Active Center, our online registration system, (see below), which provides a convenient way to register, anytime or anywhere.
MyActiveCenter (MAC) will enable you to register and pay for classes and programs online anytime. You must have an OPC Key Tag to use online registration. Before getting started, it is very important that you read the introduction and instructions that will guide you through registering for an account and making an online purchase.

The Older Persons’ Commission (OPC) provides something for everyone 50+ with a wide array of personal enrichment, fitness, aquatic, social and travel offerings. We also offer supportive senior services such as Meals on Wheels, Adult Day Service, transportation and more. Residents 50+ of the City of Rochester Hills, City of Rochester and Charter Township of Oakland are automatically members of the 90,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility – just come in and register.
