Frequently Asked Questions |
|
How does the application process work?
All prospective volunteers must complete a volunteer application form.
Thereafter, all volunteers are required to have a background check before
they can begin volunteering. We also encourage all of our volunteers
to attend our Volunteer Orientation, which is held on a regular basis.
This ensures that volunteers have an understanding about the OPC, its
members, and mission as well as, volunteer responsibilities expectations
and benefits. |

How long is my commitment?
That depends on you, but some of our programs require a minimum commitment.
One-Time volunteer opportunities are also available |
| |
Do you have to be a specific age to volunteer?
Volunteers must be 13 years of age or older to participate to volunteer
here by themselves. Anyone under 13 years of age needs to be accompanied
by an adult in order to volunteer. Please contact a Volunteer Manager
directly to see if we have opportunities available that would fit to your
needs and availability. |

I work 9:00am – 5:00pm. When can I
volunteer?
We have volunteer opportunities available in the evenings and on Saturdays.

My schedule is erratic; do I need to commit
to specific hours every week?
Volunteers serve an important role here at the OPC. We have many different
volunteer opportunities available and some of those opportunities do require
a commitment to a set schedule every month. Other opportunities are available
on a one-time basis annually. However, no matter what your assignment
is, it is important that every volunteer report for their volunteer assignment
when scheduled and on time. |

Can my group volunteer?
Members of community groups and corporate teams are welcome to volunteer
on a regular or a one-time basis at the OPC. Please contact a Volunteer
Manager directly at (248) 608-0270 to find out about upcoming events and
volunteer opportunities that would be available to your group. |
