Lap Pool: 78 – 83°F
Therapy Pool: 94 - 98°F
 
* The pool is closed daily from 11:45am – 12:30pm for locker room cleaning and pool maintenance.

It is required that you take a soap shower before swimming. You will be responsible for bringing your own toiletries and towel. The OPC provides various equipment for your use including: swim fins, kick boards, noodles, buoyancy belts, etc.

Individuals who require assistance entering the pool, utilizing aquatics equipment or getting dressed must have their own caretaker. The Lifeguards cannot provide this kind individual attention. Handicap access changing rooms are available for those with special needs.

AQUATIC CLASSES
 

A variety of aquatic classes are offered each month. The monthly cost of each class may vary and is payable at the financial office on the upper level. For a detailed listing of scheduled classes and their monthly cost, please refer to the Health & Wellness section of the monthly newsletter.

AQUA ZUMBA:
Thurs. 6:45 pm – 7:45 pm (Lap Pool)
Join the Aqua Zumba pool party! Aqua Zumba combines classic water aerobics with Latin style music and dance. Get ready for a fun, challenging, low impact workout. Cumbia, salsa, and cha-cha-cha the calories away. Please bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. Water shoes are recommended but optional.

AQUATIC CORE STRENGTH (1):
Mon., Wed., Fri. 8:00 am – 8:50 am (Therapy Pool)
This class is designed to build a strong abdomen and back. Toning the body is also a result of this workout. You will move through the water using slight resistance and balance. Come join this fun way to get in shape.

AQUATIC HEALTHY JOINTS (1):
Tues., Thurs. 10:00 am – 10:50 am (Therapy Pool)
A beginning level class focusing on slow and controlled movement providing full range of motion in major joints and muscles. Especially beneficial for people with arthritis, and those persons recovering from an injury.

AQUATIC HEALTHY JOINTS (1):
Mon., Wed. 1:00 pm – 1:50 pm (Therapy Pool)
This class focuses on each joint in the body, working the range of motion and improving muscle tone. Buoyancy belts or other flotation gear may be used. This class is beneficial for people with arthritis and those recovering from an injury.

AQUATIC HEALTHY JOINTS ADVANCED (1-2):
Tues., Thurs. 5:00 pm – 5:50 pm (Therapy Pool)
This class focuses on each joint in the body, working the range of motion and improving muscle tone. Buoyancy belts or other flotation gear may be used. This class is recommended for those who have participated in Healthy Joints before.

AQUATIC TAI CHI BEGINNING (1-2):
Fri. 12:45 pm – 1:45 pm (Therapy Pool)
An Aquatic Tai Chi class designed for both beginners to learn the movements and advanced to practice the Tai Chi movements.

AQUATIC TAI CHI INTERMEDIATE (2):
Tues. 12:30 pm – 1:20 pm (Therapy Pool)
For our experienced Tai Chi class members, continuing to build on the basic movements.

BASIC AQUATIC FLEXIBILITY (1):
Tues. 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm (Therapy Pool)
This class is for the person who always wanted to try aquatic classes but thought it might be too hard or was fearful of the water. This class will be done in the shallow end of the therapy pool. It will include walking and stretching. It will focus on exercises that you need to stay flexible.

CARDIO WAVES (2-3):
Tues., Thurs. 10:00 am – 10:50 am (Lap Pool)
This class will put you in both the deep and shallow end. Working at high and low energy levels to build strong hearts, tone the muscles, and improve your endurance.

CORE POWER H2O (1-2):
Mon., Wed. 9:00 am – 9:50 am (Lap Pool)
Come join the fun! Enhance your core stability, cardio endurance, muscle strength & flexibility.

THE DEEP (3):
Mon., Wed., Fri. 8:00 am – 8:50 am (Lap Pool)
A high intensity water workout utilizing shallow and deep water designed to improve cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and endurance. You must be comfortable in the water to sign up for this class. Buoyancy belts are used.

FITNESS CHALLENGE H2O (1):
Mon., Fri. 2:00 pm – 2:50 pm (Lap Pool)
Beginners to advanced are all welcome to explore the benefits of this unique program. A water fitness class incorporating the buoyancy and resistance of water to challenge your cardiovascular system and muscle groups.

FITNESS CHALLENGE H2O (2):
Tues. 2:30 pm – 3:20 pm (Lap Pool)
Beginners to advanced are all welcome to explore the benefits of this unique program. A water fitness class incorporating the buoyancy and resistance of water to challenge your cardiovascular system and muscle groups.

FITNESS CHALLENGE H2O (3):
Wed. 2:00 pm – 2:50 pm (Lap Pool)
Beginners to advanced are all welcome to explore the benefits of this unique program. A water fitness class incorporating the buoyancy and resistance of water to challenge your cardiovascular system and muscle groups.

GROUP SWIM LESSONS (1):
Fri. 9:00 am – 10:00 am (Lap Pool)
This beginner level class is designed for participants who have very little or no swimming experience and may be fearful or uncomfortable in the water of any depth. The course will provide instruction in basic water skills including comfortable entry, submersion, floating, breathing techniques, and an introduction to basic swimming strokes. The course is intended to help participants gain confidence and self-reliance in the water.

LIQUID BOOT CAMP (2):
Sat. 8:00 am – 9:00 am (Lap Pool)
Wake up with water. Start your day with a high intensity water aerobics class. There will be tons of fun and enough work to get you revved for the whole day.

MAKING WAVES (1-2):
Tues., Thurs. 9:00 am – 9:50 am (Lap Pool),br> A complete body workout involving strength, endurance and tone, using various power movements through the water. This class will focus on aerobic and toning techniques using different body positions, tempo and range of motion.

OPC SWIM TEAM (2-3):
Tues., Wed. 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm (Lap Pool)
No previous competition experience is necessary. Coach Jason will teach you proper form and give you the opportunity to practice your skills through drills and other exercises. Joining the swim team will help you build your endurance and confidence so that you can swim at your full potential. The cost will include instruction & practices on the day(s) of your choosing. WATER AEROBICS (2):
Tues. 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm (Lap Pool)
A high intensity water aerobics class designed to get your heart pumping. This class will focus mainly on cardiovascular conditioning and endurance. This class will challenge you to improve your overall health and wellness.

WATER-WORKS AEROBICS (1-2):
Mon., Wed., Fri. 10:00 am – 10:50 am (Lap Pool)
Join our basic water aerobic class with easy to follow moves. This class will allow you to work at your own ability yet challenge you to improve your physical fitness.

WATSU (WATER MASSAGE):
Tues. 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm (Therapy Pool)
Watsu is a gentle form of body therapy performed in warm water. The receiver is continuously supported while being floated, cradled, rocked and stretched. The deeply relaxing effects of warm water and nurturing support, combine with Watsu’s movements, stretches, massage and point work, to create a bodywork with a range of therapeutic benefits and potential healing on many levels.

AQUATIC PERSONAL TRAINER:
Scheduled around your availability. Work with a certified personal trainer to develop a workout plan tailored to your goals and abilities.

PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS:
Scheduled around your availability. One-on-one class with an experienced instructor. In these classes you will develop and increase your swimming skills with specific instructions according to your ability.

SEMI-PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS:
If you are interested in learning how to swim, but you’d rather learn with a buddy or a spouse, semi-private swim lessons are perfect for you! For more information, please contact 248-608-0247.


OPC POOL RULES:
1. A soap shower is required before entering the pool.
2. Beads must be deposited in the drop box before entering the pool.
3. Patrons and visitors are not permitted to wear street shoes on the pool deck.
4. Foul language, disruptive behavior, spitting and pollution of the pool water will not be tolerated.
5. Patrons are responsible for assessing their own limitations and should swim within their limits.
6. Please return any equipment you use back to the equipment room or storage rack.
7. Flotation devices, other than those provided for OPC pool classes, are not allowed.
8. Do not hang from the lane markers or safety lines.
9. Plastic water bottles are permitted. No other food or drinks are allowed.
10. Lanes are not reserved for individuals and must be shared.
a. If there are multiple swimmers in a lane, circle swim on the right side of the lane in a counter clockwise direction.
b. It is your responsibility to observe lane speeds before entering the pool and swim with others of similar ability.

CHECK-IN PROCEDURE – OPEN SWIMMERS/LAP SWIMMERS:
1. Each person who enters the building must sign in at the podium. By doing so, OPC receives federal funding for its programs.
2. Open Swimmers/Lap Swimmers must sign the yellow open swim sign-in sheet. Please make sure your writing is legible indicate the method of payment that applies to you – $3 Open Swim or Monthly Pass. Show the volunteer your OPC ID to verify that you are an OPC member.
3. After collecting your $3 or checking your Monthly Pass, the aquatic desk volunteer will give you a set of beads. The set of bead should be placed in the bead box located in the aquatic area above the emergency phone.
The beads are given out for 2 reasons:
1) To show the lifeguard that you have paid to use the pool.
2) To provide the maintenance department with an accurate number of pool users throughout the day to determine the amount of pool chemicals needed.

CHECK-IN PROCEDURE – AQUATIC CLASS PARTICIPANTS:
1. Each person who enters the building must sign in at the podium. By doing so, OPC receives federal funding for its programs.
2. All class participants, whether pre-registered or drop-in must sign the blue aquatic class sign-in sheet. Before sign-in in, please look at the class name at the top of the sheet to ensure that you are signing the right one. Please make sure your writing is legible and indicate the method of payment that applies to you – Pre-Paid (if you have signed up for the month), $6 Drop-in, or Punch Card. Show the volunteer your OPC ID to verify that you are an OPC member.
3. If you indicate on the sign-in sheet that you are pre-paid, the aquatic desk volunteer will verify by checking the class roster of pre-paid individuals. If you pay using a punch card, the volunteer must punch a hole in your card prior to the start of your class.
4. After collecting your $6 drop-in fee or verifying another form of payment, the volunteer will give you a set of beads. The set of bead should be placed in the bead box located in the aquatic area above the emergency phone.
The beads are given out for 2 reasons:
1) To confirm to the lifeguard that you have paid to use the pool.
2) To provide the maintenance department with an accurate number of pool users throughout the day to determine the amount of chemicals needed in the pool to maintain quality standards.


OPEN SWIM/LAP SWIM
Cost: $3 per visit (payable at the aquatic desk) or Monthly Health & Wellness Pass * Membership card and exact change are required. Locker use is included.

During all scheduled class times: The THERAPY POOL will be closed to open swimmers. The LAP POOL will always have at least one lane available for lap swimmers.

MONTHLY HEALTH & WELLNESS PASS:
Monthly Health & Wellness Passes may be purchased from the financial office on the upper level for $30 a month per individual. The pass includes the use of the pool, locker room, cardio/weight rooms, and the gym fee for drop-in sports. The pass is only good for the month issued and is not pro-rated. 6-month passes ($150) and yearly passes ($300) are also available for purchase. 6-month and yearly passes will be good from the date of purchase to the corresponding end date after 6 months or 1 year has passed.
Cost: $30 (Monthly), $150 (6-Month), $300 (Yearly) payable at the financial office on the upper level.

CLASS REGISTRATION/DROP-IN POLICY:
OPC requires a minimum of 5 participants to pre-register each month in order for a class to take place. A drop-in fee of $6 is offered for all classes. This fee can be paid for at the aquatic desk in cash or by using your Health & Wellness Class Punch Card.

HEALTH & WELLNESS CLASS PUNCH CARD:
The punch card can be used to drop-in to any fitness, aquatic, or cycling classes that offer a drop-in fee. The punch card will provide seniors with the flexibility they have been looking for if they can't commit to pre-registering for the month. In addition, many people will choose to purchase a punch card simply because they don't have to worry about handling cash. The cost will be $60 for 10 punches. As an added bonus, the 11th punch is free. The punch card must be punched prior to class. It can be purchased at the financial desk on the upper level and will expire 1 year after its purchase. * Note: Pre-registration and cash drop-ins are still acceptable forms of payment.
Cost: $60 (11 punches) payable at the financial office on the upper level.

ALL ACCESS PASS:
OPC has come up with a cost effective plan for those actively involved in the Health & Wellness Department at the OPC. The All Access Pass includes access to all classes, locker room, gym drop-ins, weight room, cardio room, and open swim for only $79 per month. Personal Training is not included in the All Access Pass. All Access passes will be considered as drop-ins, on a first come first serve order for classes. Instructors have discretion on class size and members abilities. Members may be asked to attend a lower level of class. Safety is our priority. Pre-registered members will have priority over all drop-ins. No pre-registration required. All Access Passes are not pro-rated and can be purchased at the cashier’s desk. 248-608-0251.
Cost: $79 for unlimited access to all classes, gym drop-ins, weight room, cardio room, open swimming and locker rooms.
